Fer
Fer is a town owned by SvGaming234 and jcheese7. Its spawn is located at X -6540, Y 79, Z -4914 and can be accessed with the BMCTowns stargate network. There is a huge cobble sphere with spleef arena, an underground area with a lot of builds from Discoo, quite a lot of cacti and a railroad to Leivu's outpost village Guh.
Town History
Before BMC Launch
The name Fer was chosen because of "fer" and "ferfer" being slang words in the RetroMC community. This word also spread to BetaMC, largely because of this town.
Fer began before server launch in November of 2024 as the second town to be created. The original version of the town was set near a big mountain, with a big tree farm. Unfortunately, since the server was in very early stages before launch and without good backups the hard drive with the map on it ended up dying, thus switching to a new map was needed.
When the new map was deployed, Fer was set to the location where it still is today as the first town on the second and final BetaMC map. Before launch, the town didn't feature much, only SvGaming234 and jcheese7's homes, a mined out chunk (still wasn't fully mined at the time), a small tree farm and a few other basic builds. A highway to spawn was begun, but it wasn't finished yet.
Early BetaMC Launch Period
Upon BetaMC Launch, Fer was the town where most new players were recruited to build. The old town area of Fer is thus mostly comprised of small builds from many early BetaMC players, some more notable than others.
This was a time of rapid expansion in Fer, but without many big and notable builds. The mined out chunk was finished, a big automated wheat farm was built by SvGaming234, and a clock tower was built by Fireflint.
Period of big projects
Over the coming months, invites of new players to Fer gradually slowed down as more and more competing towns popped up. This era would result in big expansion to the new town area with many well known big builds being built.
Some notable ones include:
LizzieSteph's Fer Palace, also known as its full name, "Palace Neu Von Biarritz". The massive palace includes many interior rooms, a fountain with a code that hasn't been cracked yet, and a big birch forest surrounding the exterior and garden.
krisdoart's sphere with a spleef arena inside (also known as the Sfere), which was inspired by his first such sphere in Beetopia on RetroMC.
Discoo filled in the area below the new town's flattened plains with a beautiful underground city.
SvGaming234 made a big Fer cube out of iron blocks. This is a reference to iron being known as "fer" in French, and similar names in some other languages. The same build was also built in his town on RetroMC called Cactus.
Fer today
Nowadays, Fer remains as a mostly historical town, with not many new builds. New builds still occasionally pop up though, such as SvGaming234's Cactus and Sugar Cane farms.
